About the Works
Shimmery blue is the heart of Siddhika’s works. The tarpaulin – a characteristic of Indian cities, an object draped around houses or stores that protect and shelter marginalized migrants and workers. The deep sea blue that dots the panorama of Mumbai is an inspiration for Lahori who has transformed the tarpaulin into a series of bags.

By transferring common and traditional objects like the tarpaulin, bindis and cloth, her designs become a patchwork that is both harsh and delicate, worn out and fresh.

The Unda is an allegorical work, the unda or egg or zero is a childlike rendition of the concept of the zero as nothing and everything at the same instance.

Moochi & Choti is a recalling of how India was once illustrated and depicted folk artists. It is an innocent and childlike version combining a vision of the past in the use of design and materials with a more contemporary and youthful present. Through her works, Lahori invents new ways of seeing and using common objects as she pieces together, by hand, the Unda, Moochi and Choti.
